Our cultural sensitive Psychotherapy

With our new culturally sensitive approach, we present a new theory and a new psychotherapy concept based on the following questions, which we seek to answer:

1- What experiences does a child have with their parents up to adolescence that cause them to remain dependent on them for life and constantly strive to please them?

2- What cultural challenges lead to this development and have a decisive influence on the upbringing of children?

3- How, then, is personality structured, and which defence mechanisms are activated more than others as a result of such cultural characteristics?

4- How is it possible that people from or living in collectivist cultures (migrants), whose ‘ideal and normal’ personality development consists of remaining dependent on their family for life, require the same form of psychotherapy that was developed in north-western individualistic cultures?

5- What should such a culturally sensitive form of psychotherapy take into account, and what ‘techniques’ should it use to treat people with mental health conditions?

6- What does ‘normal’ personality development look like in such cultures, and where are there deviations that might be described as disorders?

With our new approach, we offer:

1. Access to culturally sensitive and psychodynamic psychotherapy for people from collectivist cultures

2. Education about the self, the psyche, personality and mental disorders in collectivist cultures or amongst ‘collectivist migrants’

3. Psychotherapy

4. Supervision for professionals such as psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists from various disciplines

5. Seminars and continuing professional development courses for professionals such as psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists from various disciplines

Group Supervision for Teams

I offer group supervision for teams working in clinics, hospitals, or private practices. These sessions provide professional support through a culturally sensitive and psychoanalytic lens, focusing on real clinical cases and team dynamics.

Culturally Informed Case Discussions

Participants are invited to present clinical cases and reflect on treatment from both Western and collectivist perspectives, including Southeast Asian and Arab cultural contexts. This fosters deeper understanding of clients and therapeutic relationships.

How to Join Group Supervision

If your team is interested in group supervision, please email your contact details. You’ll receive all necessary information to get started. Sessions are held online and tailored to the specific needs of your team.
